| County Commissioner (District 2) |
|
Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
I grew up in Lenoir County and had many opportunities throughout life to experience every corner of North Carolina. While our State is full of wonderful places and people I have always called Lenoir County home. Our people, communities and heritage make it a great place to live and work.
After college and graduate school at UNCW, followed by working for a few years in our State's Capital, I was given the opportunity to return home. As a State employee I enjoy a job that allows me to interact with people all over Eastern North Carolina. The contact I have had with municipal leaders, elected officials and citizens all over has given me the insight and knowledge to add value as a Lenoir County Commissioner.
My desire to serve the public is evident with my employment and years of service and I'm looking forward to serving the citizens of District 2.

| Candidate Statement:
I'm proposing a simple platform based upon the recognition that changing trends within our business environment offer opportunities for our county to have a strong economy with more good paying jobs for our citizens.
The first priority will be working with state and local entities to build the right circumstances that are needed to recruit and develop new businesses. I understand that a strong economy in the 21st century requires a significant broadband infrastructure, an excellent education system and a focus on collaboration between resources. I will ensure these assets are in place for the people of Lenoir County.
I also understand that the farming community has played, and will continue to play, a major role in the success of our community. I plan to reach out to farmers to help them explore new opportunities while seeking fairer land taxes to assist with their expansion into new agricultural markets.
Furthermore, I believe that the good quality of life in Lenoir County is the most important reason people choose to live in the area. There are several issues currently under consideration that could severely impact our community. One of the most important is the proposed La Grange Multi-Purpose Recreation Complex. I believe that if this project is planned and managed effectively, it will have a significant effect on people’s lives.
The threat of continued forced annexation of residents living in District 2 is another significant quality of life issue and I will work tirelessly to insure that future initiatives are defeated. The people of Lenoir County should have the right to determine the government that represents and serves them.
I have worked as a banker and currently serve as the Director of the Governor's Eastern Office giving me the experience and knowledge necessary to get work done inside business and government.
