Candidate Statement:

I am running for reelection to the North Carolina State House of Representatives to continue the fight for conservative principles in our state government. Specifically, we must restore fiscal responsibility. Last year our budget increased by 9% to over $20 billion.

This irrational increase in spending must not just be stopped, but reversed. We must change our failed priorities to the fundamental responsibility of government; which is protecting our citizens and providing basic infrastructure.

Crime is increasing all over North Carolina, and our state government must provide the resources to enforce the laws and protect our citizens. Also, our roads are failing and congestion is threatening not just our competitiveness for jobs, but our quality of life.

We must restructure the NCDOT to eliminate bureaucracy, reestablish how we fund roads including changing the funding formula to recognize congestion, stop the transfer of funds from the Highway Trust Fund to the General Fund, and eliminate political decisions on road building by the North Carolina Board of Transportation.

Finally, we must also restore the public trust in the state legislature by replacing those whose are serving themselves with those who wish to serve others. Only then will the public have confidence that lawmakers will act with integrity and in the best interest of the public.

I ask for your support for my continued fight for conservative principles.
