| Candidate Statement:
Realizing education is the backbone of our economy and future I support good schools. All children deserve the opportunity to receive an education. I am very proud of my vote to build a new high school in Rocky Mount to replace Rocky Mount Senior High School that will be a state of the art school and environmental friendly. I also voted for new classrooms as Middlesex School and field house at Southern Nash. We are doing all the above projects with no tax increase and saved money by doing them in this slow economy.
The community colleges have grown so much from the people losing their jobs and having to get training that we have to support that growth by supporting our community college. I am proud to say we have done this.
Actively seeking new industry to come to our area, as this will keep our tax base low, give our people jobs. New industry is wonderful and helps so many people but we have to take care of business we have. Need to support small business, as that is most of our employees.
Giving our sheriff department new technology to help them do their jobs better? Enhance the 911 centers as they have updated their equipment and sat ready to help the citizens any way they can. Furnishing the financing they need for these projects.
Making sure water and sewer lines are furnished to our layering communities and town is an important part of our county future.
Reviewing the zoning regulations to make sure all citizens are treated equal. Keeping tabs on our departments by supporting them and offering to help when possible.
There are lots of things facing out communities and we have to look at each issue separate and involve the citizens in any decision we make.
