Candidate Biography (submitted by campaign):

Representative Debbie Clary is currently serving her seventh term in the North Carolina General Assembly. Clary is a former broadcaster in Shelby, N.C., where she owned and operated WADA Radio. Currently, she is President of Millennium Marketing Group, Inc. Rep. Clary's interest in government service initiated from her work in Talk Radio.

Since beginning her work in the North Carolina State House, Debbie has been honored to be the recipient of awards from a diverse group of North Carolina agencies.

Clary has been honored on four occasions with the Home Care "Hero" Award from the North Carolina Home Care Association.

She has been recognized by AARP for making home care, instead of institutionalization, a priority in North Carolina and for her focus on improving the quality of life of our senior citizens.

In addition, Rep. Clary is also a recipient of the Adult Day Care Association's highest award of recognition for her work toward making Adult Day Care available throughout North Carolina.

At the other end of the age spectrum, Rep. Clary is also sponsor of the Graduated Drivers License Law for which she has received many honors and takes pride in knowing the law is saving the lives of teens across N.C.

Debbie also works on law enforcement issues and has been honored for three terms as the Law Enforcement Legislator of the Year.

She is retiring the House seat this year and making a bid for the N.C. Senate. She says that she will remain "dedicated to a progressive agenda for North Carolina families and business."
