Candidate Statement:

It is an honor to serve the people of Wake County as Clerk of Court. I believe the Office of Clerk of Court plays a crucial role in providing access for members of the public to the justice system. I am committed to creating a court system that is responsive, efficient, and always makes our community's safety its top priority. Since becoming Clerk, I have focused on:

Improving Public Safety

  • Worked to develop of the first ever criminal justice data integration system, CJLEADS, piloted in Wake County
  • Created a single point of contact for law enforcement that helps keep them out in our community, not in the courthouse.

Saving Taxpayers Money

  • Improved banking procedures which saved taxpayers close to $1 million dollars over the past four years.

Increasing Efficiency

  • Improved retention and training of staff.
  • Implemented new technology including electronic filing and E-Pay systems.

Building a More Responsive Court System

  • Created a Convenience Court so citizens can take care of a traffic ticket on a day that fits their schedule.

If given the opportunity, I will continue to make these objectives my top priority.
