Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
I have lived in NC all of my 46 years. Grew up in Dunn, NC to blue collar parents. My dad drove a gas tanker for Gulf Oil for 20+ years. I graduated from Dunn High School, 1983. I started in law enforcement at age 22. I attended law enforcement training at Sampson Tech College. My first weeks of training were by State Troopers (traffic investigation; firearms; ethics).
After serving for many years in 3 police departments with 6 police chiefs in Harnett, Johnston and Sampson County, I decided to run for Wake County Sheriff being an experienced former officer and after many cases (felony & misdemeanor) I know what works in law enforcement and what does not. Also, I have served in the NC Department of Corrections and security at two major Wake hospitals.
