Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
Born in Raleigh, NC, David Adams is a graduate of Millbrook Sr. High School and UNC-Chapel Hill, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following a summer cross-country motorcycle trip where he camped in many of the nation's National Parks, David enrolled in East Carolina University and obtained a Masters in Business Administration.
In 2004, David permanently returned to his family's farm located on the border of Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina to live and raise his immediate family. For over six generations spanning more than 200 years, David's family has voluntarily preserved the land as a working farm. David currently resides on the farm with his wife, Jan, and three children, Kenan (11), Morgan (9), and Ashton Leigh (5), along with a menagerie of domestic pets and wildlife.
The family farm is currently enrolled in the Wake County Voluntary Agricultural District Program sponsored by the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District. As a big proponent of the Voluntary Agricultural District Program, David has also been an avid supporter of the Wake Soil & Water Conservation District’s annual Preserving the Family Farm workshop and has served on several volunteer sub-committees for the District.
David is currently employed by Capital Bank as the Raleigh City Executive. During a banking career that spans more than 17 years, David has been involved in many aspects of commercial and residential real estate development, which has further heightened his awareness and appreciation for prudent and voluntary conservation practices.
In addition to working on the family farm during his spare time, David enjoys hunting, fly-fishing, backpacking, camping, and collecting Civil War artifacts. David attends Hope Community Church in Holly Springs, serves on the Downtown Raleigh Alliance Board, and serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 413.

| Candidate Statement:
To My Fellow Citizens of Wake County,
Thank you for your consideration to elect me to serve as a member of the Wake Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. As a native of Wake County, I have personally witnessed the transformation of the county's landscape from semi-rural to urban, and have celebrated with each of you, its rise to both national and international prominence. While we bask in the many accolades that promote Wake County as "THE" place to live, work and play, we should also reflect on the bases of such accolades. It is my belief that the citizens of Wake County are attracted and committed to the delicate balance of housing, employment, and recreational opportunities; all from which originate and have an impact on its varied natural resources. If Wake County is to remain on the pedestal upon which we have been placed, this balance and its origins, supported by the voluntary protection of our County's natural resources, must be maintained.
I believe that the counter-balancing influences from my professional career in banking relative to real estate development, along with my insatiable desire to support voluntary preservation and conservation practices for Wake County's fields, forests and streams; provides me with a unique and valuable perspective relative to the position that I seek. Promoting voluntary conservation practices amongst the county's landowners (both rural and urban, private and public) and providing educational opportunities and resources to support such practices and the general public at large, is the only way to maintain the delicate balance that makes Wake County so desirable to each of us.
I consider it both a privilege and a personal obligation to support the conservation of Wake County's natural resources. I sincerely appreciate your vote to help carry out this aim.
