Candidate Statement:

I served my country in Vietnam, the City of Raleigh as councilor and now would like to serve my state.  The job of Insurance Commissioner reaches out in many other directions: Fire Marshall, Chief Building Inspector, and regulator of Manufactured Housing and Bail Bondsman. My world experiences as a small business owner for 35 years working with a global franchise (serving on many committees as well as advertising for 12 years), gives me the managerial ability to do this job well.   My pledge is to protect the consumers by enforcing state insurance regulations while providing great service to consumers and agents.  I've always been known as the people's protector. My pledge includes assuring insurance company solvency and promoting a free market system for competition that will result in better rates.  I am committed to keeping insurance rates low.
