Candidate Biography (submitted by campaign):

Born in North Carolina.  Comes from an old Johnston County family of 15 children.  Hobbies are fishing, hunting and boating.  He is Chairman of the Deacon Board at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and serves as General Superintendent of the Sunday School.

Candidate Statement:

Vision:

I see working North Carolinians being more knowledgeable about their labor rights;
I see working North Carolinians doing the right things for their employers, their families, and themselves!
I see working North Carolinians being more productive and profitable for their employers and themselves!
I see working North Carolinians in better working conditions as a result of improved productivity and profitability for NC Employers.
As a result, I see NC Employees loving NC Employers and NC Employers loving NC Employees!
I see Tyrone Richardson as the next NC Commissioner of Labor!
I see Tyrone Richardson and key employees focusing on promoting the health, safety, and general well being of all NC workers regardless of their financial, socio-economical, or spiritual background!

Mission:

I help working North Carolinians and NC Employers do the right thing by:

Knowing and understanding workers rights for their health, safety, and overall general well being

Objectives:

By 2008: Win the hearts and minds of NC Workers and Employers
By 2009: Launch a Labor Rights Literacy Campaign for current and future Employees
By 2010: Leverage Technology for mandatory training to reach all establishments and employees (sign-off)
By 2011: Educate 100% of establishments and employees on labor rights
By 2012: Be the most admired State in the USA for employees and employers to live, work and play

Strategies:

Review Sec 18 of Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970
Review with Treasurer/Consultant the complete Financial Budget for Labor Commissioner Dept.
Review occupational fatality investigation reports
Examine Reports on effectiveness and efficiencies in executing the primary activities of all Labor bureaus
Examine all discrimination cases resulted under current leadership
Examine all reports on the most risky Industries
Examine current Strategic Plan and create a better plan to reach 100% of all establishments (200K+)
Discover solutions to problems from above (Litigation, Penalty Assessments, Violations, Inspections)
