Candidate Statement:

I served on the North Carolina Court of Appeals from February 2001 until December 31, 2008. During those years I personally authored over 800 opinions and joined in several thousand more. I mediated over 40 cases, served on the Carolina Sentencing Commission, the Medico-Legal Guidelines committee and taught two years in the UNC Law School.

My legal experience includes service as a federal prosecutor where I was twice the Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina as well as private practice with the firm of Stubbs and Perdue. I also served in the U.S. Marine Corps reserve and retired with 29 years service as a Colonel.

I would very much like to continue to serve the people of North Carolina and believe I have demonstrated the ability to perform as an appellate judge worthy of your support. During my service as a judge I treated all parties fairly and with respect. I believe I have the integrity, commitment and experience needed. I am raising funds to participate in the public financing program.
