Candidate Biography (submitted by campaign):
Broad experience, fairness, good character and integrity are qualities we all look for in judges. 61 years of life have molded Bob Hunter into just such an individual. For the past 35 years Bob has dedicated his practice to advocating for people from all walks of life. In state and federal court, his service to his clients has earned him the respect of his peers. Rated "a.v" the highest level of professional excellence by Martindale Hubble (an independent attorney rating authority) Bob's practice has taken him from the county Clerk's office to the United States Supreme Court.
Bob is a native North Carolinian from Greensboro. His father was a general contractor. His mother was a school teacher. He earned a B.A. in History in 1969 and a law degree in 1973 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
UNC prepared Bob for a life time of service. After law school he worked for the people of North Carolina as a Deputy Attorney General in the Department of Justice. Over the course of the next 35 years Bob would work in private practice and as a Family Financial Mediator, District Court Arbitrator, Adjunct Professor of Law at Wake Forest University, Guilford County Public Administrator and Chairman of the State Board of Elections. He brought landmark cases expanding the right to cast a meaningful vote, earning the trust and good opinion of the judges before whom he appeared.
Bob is married to Susan Awbrey Hunter, a former school teacher and counselor. Between them they have three children, and one grandson, all of whom live in North Carolina.

| Candidate Statement:
After representing people in private practice for nearly 35 years, the Court of Appeals provides me the opportunity to return the benefits that North Carolina has afforded me. My life and family experiences, as well as my years of professional practice, help give me a fuller understanding of the competing interests which judges must resolve. My decision to run is based in part on a desire to end my legal career in public service.
Every person who comes before a court should be treated fairly and with respect. Judges should be open minded basing their decisions on the law and not let their personal preferences influence their decisions. I have no private personal agenda which I seek to advocate should I be elected. Every case should be decided on its merits alone. I am mindful that the work of the courts is serious and has a significant impact on the lives and fortunes of the litigants.
The North Carolina Court of Appeals is the court where the vast majority of appeals are reviewed and the cases are finally concluded. It is the work horse of the appellate judiciary. Property rights, injury disputes, criminal cases and conflicts involving family law are the meat and potatoes of this court. Many of my cases in private practice have touched on these policy issues.
I would be honored to receive your vote for the North Carolina Court of Appeals. For information please visit my campaign website www.hunterforjudge.com.
