Candidate Statement:

For twenty years I have worked in the private practice of law. And as I have seen my children grow up and achieve academic awards, and scholarships, and other honors, I have also seen a growing
number of young people lose their way to gangs, drugs, and violence.

I believe leaders in government have a responsibility to actively go after our young people and give them a fighting chance to be law abiding, successful citizens.

More and more young people are finding their way to our courthouses across this state. Many are earning felony convictions at an early age essentially limiting their opportunities for financial aid, pell grants, and a good paying job. And then they often return to crime. I believe we need to aggressively focus on punishment, redemption, and pathways back to being a law abiding citizen instead of giving them the easy felony conviction and throw them blindly into our probation system.

I would like to see us start growing generation after generation of law abiding young people with hope, instead of growing generations of felons, with limited hope.

We need to shut down the drug houses. We need to aggressively prosecute the habitual offenders of the law that make our community unsafe. We need to get our young people back in the fellowship of church and away from the evil fellowship that dwells in gangs.

It is not enough to give our young people a path to redemption, they also need to see the habitual adult offenders get meaningful punishment. They need to see that if they do not change direction they will spend their life in prison instead of enjoying the pursuit of happiness in the greatest nation on earth.

I am committed to making our community a safer place to live.
