| Candidate Statement:
In the last 15 years, my family has established a foundation here in Southeastern North Carolina. I feel this is my time to participate in the process, and to serve the community that has given so much to me. I believe that I can have the most immediate and positive impact on individuals by serving as a District Court Judge. I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve as District Court Judge, and leave this community a safer and better place to live.
I understand that whether it's a divorce, child custody matter, civil case or even a simple speeding ticket, it is the most important event in that individual's life at the time. I will honor that by maintaining the proper perspective on each case that comes in front of my court.
I will respect all parties of a case, whether they are plaintiffs, defendants or victims. All individuals deserve an engaged judiciary, and I promise to focus on every case with deliberate attention so that justice prevails.
If elected to be the next District Court Judge, my philosophy will be one of "judicial restraint". My decisions and judgment will be lead by the laws passed by our legislature, as well as precedent created by our appellate court system. I will not legislate from the bench, as I believe this is in violation of the separation of powers created by our Forefathers. I believe this is the very essence of what is required of our judiciary.
