Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
Frank Deaton was born and raised in Charlotte. He grew up in a household that promoted a life of hard work, discipline and personal responsibility. These values have propelled and guided him into a successful career owning and managing small businesses and real estate.
As his father's cancer began to worsen, Frank chose to postpone his college career and stepped in to run the family business. Frank was there to serve whenever asked and allowed his dad to spend his days surviving cancer without the day-to-day worries and responsibilities of management.
As a small business owner, he took on the challenges of reinvesting in new machinery and technology that yielded the best working conditions for his staff and became one of the first in his industry to achieve a complete environmentally and labor friendly facility. Many churches and organizations have recognized Frank for his service and charity to the community.
Frank is an involved member of Myers Park Baptist Church where his values are practiced in keeping with the churches covenant to be "Open to All and Closed to None". He continues to serve in his church and to Chair and serve as president of the "Lakewood Community Development Corporation" which through financial support from his church, foundations and individuals, works to rescue this depressed area of Charlotte by providing quality and affordable housing to those who are financially challenged.
In addition, Frank continues to support organizations such as the Fraternal Order of Police, the YMCA and the YWCA, which provides assistance to financially challenged women as well as works to bring an end to racism in our community.
He continues to enjoy working for local and national food drives, donating and collecting school supplies for disadvantaged children, voter registration drives and working on Habitat for Humanity projects.
