| N.C. House of Representatives (District 36 - Wake) |
|
Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
Robin's campaign for N.C. House of Representatives grew out of the desire to see state government improved and to make sure that the State of North Carolina fulfills its obligation to every North Carolinian.
Robin grew up on her family's farm. During college she interned at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., an experience that sparked her interest in the law. After school, Robin moved with her family to the Raleigh area, and instantly fell in love with North Carolina. Over twenty-five years later she couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
Having worked for many years after college, Robin made a decision to fulfill her life-long dream to go to law school. As her son turned one-year-old, Robin entered law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon graduation she clerked with the Honorable Louis B. Meyer, the Senior Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.
After her clerkship, Robin entered into private practice and thirteen years ago joined a Raleigh law firm as a partner concentrating in employment law. Her law practice includes matters involving discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination and retaliatory discharge, wage and hour, and contract disputes. Robin has been recognized by her peers to be one of the best in her field and was named to be a member of the Legal Elite, Business North Carolina.
In addition to her law practice, Robin served for eleven years on the North Carolina State Personnel Commission and was appointed as the first female Chair in 2005.
For the past twenty years, Robin has been an employment attorney working hard to represent North Carolinians. She has worked to make sure that small businesses are able to provide quality, well paying jobs. And, she has fought hard for working families who needed her help.

| Candidate Statement:
Strong families are the backbone of strong communities. My priority is to support our families -- in work, in our pockets and in giving our children the best start.
In my 20 years as an employment law attorney, and as Chair of the State Personnel Commission, I have been an advocate for North Carolina workers and their families; seeing first-hand the struggle to pay the mortgage and afford the rising costs from transportation to higher education.
Throughout my law practice, I have been dedicated to protecting small business; and facing the same challenges that thousands of North Carolina's businesses tackle every day: how to make payroll, how to afford the rising costs of health insurance, how to stay on budget.
Now is not the time for political games but for positive solutions. As your next State House Representative, I will fight for the issues important to us -- creating good jobs, getting the most out of our tax dollars, and ensuring a quality education and opportunity for our children.
