Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
Dr. Mott Blair is a fourth-generation doctor in Wallace, NC. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He has practiced medicine for twenty years, and served as President of the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians from 2002-2003. In 2006, he was honored with the Academy's Family Physician of the Year award.
Mott always knew he wanted to be a doctor. His father was a family doctor in Wallace, and practiced medicine for over fifty years. Mott took over the practice, which continues to thrive, in a county which only has roughly 4 doctors for every 10,000 residents. His family has always valued helping people and serving the community, and Mott has lived those values throughout his life -- as a doctor, as a member of the Duplin County Agribusiness Council Board of Directors (1995-1996), as a Duplin County Board of Education member (1998-2002), and as President of the Wallace Chamber of Commerce (2001-2002).
Dr. Blair is married to Mrs. Jennifer Blair. They have three children: Cecelia, Ivey, and Parks.

| Candidate Statement:
After hearing every day from patients struggling in this economy, I had enough of all the politicians more interested in their careers than our problems. My priorities will be: creating jobs, cutting spending, and protecting our schools. It starts by cutting spending for less important programs and holding the line against tax hikes. Having served on the school board, I know the importance of our schools, and will fight those who try to balance the budget on the backs of our children by laying off teachers and overcrowding classrooms. As a doctor who has run my own practice, and as former President of the Wallace Chamber of Commerce, I knows how to meet a payroll and will work to help small businesses, which are the real engine of job creation in our economy.
I will also pay special attention to the needs of agriculture and agribusiness. Agribusiness is the backbone of my district's economy, and I will fight hard to ensure that farms, both large and small, can thrive in eastern North Carolina. I was a member of the Duplin Agribusiness Council because I firmly believe that in this part of our state, every business rises and falls with the fortune of agribusiness.
I will stand up to the usual political types to finally get something done on our priorities: creating jobs, cutting spending, and protecting schools.
