Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
I was born and raised in Person County and have resided there all my life with exceptions of time away for college and the military. I spent 30 years as a writer/editor for the Courier-Times Newspaper in Roxboro and was active in community affairs throughout that time. I resigned from the newspaper in 2004 in order to run for the N.C. House of Representatives. I have served continuously in the House since January of 2005.

| Candidate Statement:
My major focus as a member of the House has been job creation/job retention. That will continue to be the case going forward. I am a strong supporter of K-12 education and believe that this state must continue its emphasis on reduction of the dropout rate. I am also a strong supporter of the community college system. I will continue to push for more equipment in community colleges for job-training purposes.
