| Candidate Statement:
I am Michael Beezley and I am honored to be the Republican nominee for North Carolina Senate District 16. This great country of ours was founded on freedom. I will work for solutions that protect our freedoms and enhance our way of life. Every law that is passed should be considered in the light of freedom. Will the law make us more free or less free? If it makes us less free, are the supposed gains worth the cost of freedom.
Government should serve a limited, yet vital role. Our state budgets and subsequent tax rates should reflect this. I believe in people being rewarded, not penalized, for working hard and taking risks.
Along with freedom comes responsibility. Each of us has a responsibility to those around us to act and treat others the way we would like to be treated. When people violate the law and their responsibility, they should be punished, afforded the due process guaranteed by the Constitution.
Both regulatory laws and taxes should have sunset provisions. No tax or regulation should be forever. This approach will force our legislators to work in a way that protects our freedoms and enhances economic growth. Less government and lower taxes will stimulate the economy and provide for the economic growth we desire. This is Michael Beezley and I am asking for your vote for North Carolina Senate District 16. Thank you.
