Candidate Statement:

David is running for Senate on a platform of investing in our communities to attract companies, families and jobs to Wake County. First and foremost, that begins with education. High-quality schools have long attracted families to Wake County. David will work to make our schools even stronger by retaining and hiring teachers to reduce class size and ensure children receive the individual attention they need to reach their potential. David will also work to lower the cost of tuition at state universities and ensure that our community colleges are fully funded. Only by honoring our commitment to create world-class schools can North Carolina attract high-paying jobs to revitalize our economy.

David wants to invest in our small businesses. With the success of Research Triangle Park, Wake County is already a living example of how wise investment by local government can create a thriving economy that attracts top companies and top jobs. David will help businesses add new jobs and support green development to bring another generation of great jobs to Wake County. He wants to improve the infrastructure those businesses need by completing the I-540 loop, improving public transportation and making highway funding more equitable for Wake County.

David is strongly committed to improving government ethics. He wants to end the corrosive revolving door between legislators and lobbyist by creating a two-year ban on legislators taking lobbying jobs. He wants to increase transparency in government spending and end the unfair practice of lawmakers drawing the boundaries for the very districts they wish to represent.

David believes that getting our economy moving again requires bold, innovative action and fresh ideas and fresh energy in the legislature. It's time to move forward by investing in our communities and creating a brighter economic future, and David will work tirelessly to make that happen.
