Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

I was born and raised in Edgecombe County, the only son of sharecroppers. I graduated from West Edgecombe School; attended NC State and NC Wesleyan where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1970.

After college, I started Meadowbrook Enterprises, Inc., a landscape business. In the 1980's, I expanded into residential and commercial land development throughout the state.

During my business, I also served on the Board of Commissions as the only Republican to be elected to public office in Edgecombe County. I 2006, I founded the Long Branch Bible Institute and now serve as its chancellor providing 100% of the funding for operations costs.

Candidate Statement:

Save Tax Dollars

  • Cut State Government overhead and waste.
  • Enact and vote for a "Taxpayer's Bill of Rights".
  • Support no new State debt unless taxpayers vote to approve issue.

Ideas on State Taxes

  • Our state taxes are too high.
  • Remove inconsistent tax codes.
  • Only allow COP's and TIF's if approved by voters.

Economic Development

  • There is no such thing as a free subsidy.
  • Cut taxes and reduce regulations.
  • Allow the free enterprise system to function freely.

Property Rights

  • Eliminate ETJ
  • Annexation only by voters affirmative vote
  • Pass an eminent domain constitutional amendment which limits taking of private property for public use.
