| Candidate Statement:
I am running for North Carolina Senate to help improve the lives of the residents of southeastern North Carolina. The challenges we face require conservative, common sense solutions from leaders with business experience and a commitment to our communities.
I have helped create good jobs for local people for many years at my veterinary clinics and I want to help create many more good jobs as your State Senator. I am committed to keeping taxes low, improving infrastructure and fully funding community colleges to help attract new jobs and keep the ones we have.
As Vice Chairman of Trustees at Brunswick Community College, I am a strong supporter of community colleges and the positive impact they can have for their students and our local economy. I also have an agricultural background, having earned the American Farmer Degree from the Future Farmers of America.
State government's budget needs to be reined in and managed in a businesslike manner. Government spending, adjusted for inflation, has far outpaced our state's population growth and is creating an unsustainable burden on taxpayers. This must change, and I am committed to being a strong voice for fiscal responsibility.
I have been honored to serve the people of this area in many charitable and civic roles, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to serve as your State Senator. I will be open and accountable to you and I pledge to work hard to improve the quality of life for all the citizens of our area. I ask for your vote.
