Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

I have lived in Cary for over ten years and in the triangle for over 30 years. I was born in New Jersey about 52 years ago and came to North Carolina with my parents when I was 12 years old.

I've been here ever since except for a few years while attending college. I met my wife Donna in high school and we've been happily married for over 30 years. We have three sons and a daughter, the youngest of which is 21. We have four grandchildren and counting!

When I came to live in Raleigh (about one cornfield away from Durham), much was different then. All we had was "cash for clunkers". A normal day consisted of jumping off the school bus; grabbing a fishing pole, my shotgun, and cranking up the motorcycle for a run to the pond ... after hoeing in the garden. My four brothers and I thought that life was supposed to be that way.

Donna and I became Christians in our late teens and enjoy serving in our Church in Apex. Additionally, it was my privilege to serve on the board of Western Wake Crisis Ministry for about two years. My career has been in the construction industry and I am currently the owner of a small roofing business. For fun, we like spending time with family and relaxing at the beach.

Candidate Statement:

I am the most pro-life candidate and would work toward a constitutional amendment for life. Congress holds the purse strings to the budget and should offer the most conservative budget that will pass the House. It should be prepared to enter into an "essential services only" budget in light of the runaway deficit spending that has been escalating for several years now. Balancing the budget should be able to be accomplished in two years.

The purpose of government is for protection of it's people - not provision. I believe that limited government, a free market, and a generous people have contributed much towards our most prosperous nation in history. Winston Churchill said, "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

I would define socialism as the taking of assets from one person and giving them to another who hasn't earned them. This form of governing, as you may know, was practiced by the Pilgrims initially. It was replaced with Capitalism after many of them had died from a lack of motivation among other reasons. It is good and right that people should reap a harvest from their labors and to spend their earnings as they think best. All government social programs including Medicaid should be phased out as soon as reasonably possible.

Our energy resources should be developed for our own national security. I see this as one of the greatest employment opportunity of the decade. All federal regulation in this sector should be dissolved and left to the states.
