Candidate Biography (submitted by campaign):
My name is Duskin Lassiter and I am running for the United States Senate. I was born and raised in High Point, N.C. I moved to Lexington, N.C. in 1992 and I have lived here since then. I currently run my own trucking company. I’ve been in the trucking industry for 14 years, before that I worked in banking for a few years.
In my many years of traveling throughout this country I have visited thousands of businesses both large and small. Some of the most troubling things I’ve encountered is an overall relentless decline in one industry after another in our country. Countless factories that once paid top wages no longer exist anymore. With the passage of the first free trade agreement in 1994 we were promised higher wages and higher living standards but unfortunately our business leaders and politicians misled us. This much is quite clear to me as well as anyone else in the middle and working-class.
If elected I hope to make bold and sweeping changes in our country. I want you to know that although you may have heard these words before from other politicians, you haven’t heard them from someone who doesn’t benefit from the status quo. Since I’m not a rich doctor, lawyer or investment banker I do not benefit from free trade, high gas prices or over priced health insurance plans. Please keep this one statement in mind when you go out to vote in the May primaries.

| Candidate Statement:
It goes without saying that if elected my first priority is to balance out our 758 billion dollar trade deficit. This one act should directly create 8.4 million new jobs and indirectly affect 21 million workers. This would also mean the creation of 240,000 new jobs here in North Carolina.
I have no fondness for the poor quality, cheap goods that are sometimes even dangerous. Why we continue to send our hard earned money to brutal communist dictatorships such as China is beyond me. More trade with China has not brought freedom for the people of that country or Tibet. All we are doing is supporting a vehicle of enslavement.
My second priority is to bring healthcare to all. We should have premiums based on your percentage of income not on how old, sick or the number of kids you have. If we were to adopt a European style of healthcare plan we could save $700 billion a year plus increase our life expectancy and reduce infant mortality rates.
My third biggest priority is to become energy independent in five years as well as reduce carbon dioxide emissions from this nation’s coal and gas plants by up to 90%. This can be achieved with a new vertically integrated technology that uses our waste co2 and algae in a closed loop photobioreactor. This technology can generate 33,000 gallons of biodiesel per acre per year. We can meet all of our energy needs using the land area of about one-tenth the size of the state of New Mexico. This project would cost us around 308 billion dollars and would mean $9.25 billion in investment to North Carolina. This project is much cheaper than a continued fight over oil.
