For more information about registering to vote in North Carolina, see the North Carolina State Board of Elections site. The deadline to register to vote in the North Carolina primary is 25 days before the day of the election.

If you are not yet registered to vote, you can register at any Department of Motor Vehicle office, county library or public school, or contact your local county board of elections to register by mail.

One Stop Voting

One-stop absentee voting allows voters to appear in person at the office of the county board of elections or an approved additional one-stop voting site, request an absentee ballot application, receive the absentee ballot and vote. This process begins on the first Thursday after the registration deadline and ends at 1:00 pm on the Saturday before the election.
