Uncover, develop & help produce outstanding news stories & interviews for NC Now, the only statewide weeknightly newsmagazine. Research & schedule interviews with newsmakers from around the statee.

Major Tasks
Work closely with journalists to create TV news stories. Intern will develop relationships with key newsmakers across the state, uncover excellent story ideas, locate interview subjects, research story topics, schedule shooting, write stories & transcribe taped interviews. Interns' work will occur in-house and in the field. Some statewide travel may be involved. The intern will assist with the weeknightly creation of the NC Now show, using an Associated Press computer program, linear and non-linear editing equipment, Microsoft Office suite programs Word & Excel, a proprietary email program and a proprietary scheduling program.
Final Product or Outcome
Interns will have a direct impact on at least one story or show element every week, and will get beginning-to-end journalism experience as a key part of our newsgathering team. Particularly motivated interns may be able to make their own story for statewide broadcast. By the end of the internship, all interns will have at least 3 original TV news stories as evidence of their work.
Hours Scheduled
12 - 40 hours per week
Internship Duration
Interns to start as soon as needed for a minimum of 1 semester. Outstanding interns will be invited to return for up to 3 semesters.
