Journalism majors.
Requirements
We're looking for highly motivated people that want to gain valuable hands-on experience! We'll give you a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on a variety of programs. You'll be a "jack of all trades" once you get through your internship with us! Lifting, climbing, and some minor carpentry skills are required.
In order to qualify as a student intern, you must be enrolled as a full-time student for Spring and Fall semesters. For summer students, you must be enrolled as a full-time student for the upcoming Fall semester in order to be eligible.
Project Objective
To envision, schedule, and produce educational and informative programming
for North Carolina's public television network, UNC-TV.

Major Tasks
Operate studio cameras and teleprompter in working studio. Acquire skills in
character generator (CG), video switching, lighting equipment, audio
consoles, various editing systems, and other production equipment. There is
also various set load-ins in which we construct or tear down sets when
necessary. You must be willing to do some lifting!
Final Product or Outcome
To show you how a television program comes together and ultimately, to help
our interns find gainful employment in the field of television.
Hours Scheduled
10-15 hours minimum. We need a solid commitment from you in order to offer
you a position. Typically, we have students work a Monday, Wednesday, Friday
schedule or a Tuesday, Thursday schedule. Our crew window runs from 3pm until 8pm. We cannot adjust this time.
Internship Duration
Varying time lengths- from one semester to two years. We do ask that you give
us a commitment of at least one semester.
