Water Bottle Activity
Hines:
To generate introductions and to provide an icebreaker activity, the teachers were asked to get into small groups, to read the label on the water bottle, and then to share their responses with the entire group. The printed message on the water bottle is “Research shows that it is very important to stay hydrated and to drink more water. You have been given a water bottle. Please tell your name and your favorite healthy snack or exercise.”
Hines:
Studies indicate that it is very important to stay hydrated. You have been given a water bottle. Now, when it is your turn to talk among your group I want you to tell that person your name and I know all of you know each other, but still tell the person your name and then your favorite exercise or healthy snack. Ready, set, go.
[OVERTALKING]
Hines:
I’m going to give you about 10 more seconds to talk among yourselves.

Hines:
Five, four, three, two, one, time is up. Someone asked me if it would be okay for you to drink the water. What do you think?
All:
Yes.
Hines:
Because what was our first thing on our little note here on our water bottle? It is very important for you to stay hydrated. So go ahead and feel free to pop your little lid on your water bottle and start drinking that water because you are going to be moving a lot this afternoon, this morning, and I want to make sure today that you are hydrated. I don’t want anyone to pass out or say that wild woman from UNC-TV came over here and had us all in the floor. So we are going to do lots of exercises today. And J.J. the Jet Plane is again going to help us to do that. So let’s all get fit together.
