Hines:
We will also talk about our healthy bodies in a small group discussion.
Hines:
So talk among yourselves for about two minutes of something that you saw in this handout that addresses food and water, exercise and rest, or let’s think about our healthy bodies that can help you as you are working in the classroom, something that is interesting. Ready, set, go.
[OVERTALKING]
Hines:
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. Time’s up. I’m just going to ask you to just give me one thing at each table, one thing that you found very interesting.
F:
We liked the part about the resting.
Hines:
The resting?
F:
Yes, rest is also a good part for your body being healthy because after you have done exercises, after you have done so much running, that there is a time that you do need to rest your body to—
Hines:
Okay so the resting is very important. And I’m thinking that, is that something that you guys were thinking, too, resting? You were thinking of resting?
F:
[INAUDIBLE].
Hines:
That is for everybody to keep your body hydrated. Why do you think you need so much water?
F:
[INAUDIBLE].
Hines:
And also your body is made mostly of water. So in order to keep your brain hydrated and your body hydrated, you need to have water in it. At least six to eight glasses of water a day. How many of you drink at least one glass of water a day? How many of you have gone for days and you probably didn’t drink any water? I have to be honest, there was one almost a week that I went without drinking any water and I started feeling very lethargic and I didn’t understand what was going on, I couldn’t remember things, I was really having a hard time. And I, it came to me; you haven’t drunk any water at al. So water is real important to keep your brain and everything hydrated. So that’s why it is real important to have water in your body. And you said rest. Green table?
F:
Exercise.
Hines:
Exercise. Okay. Purple table?
M:
It was slightly, well we were saying rest because to repair your body, your body is still working while you sleep so.
Hines:
Right, your body really needs a rest. How many of us stay up late, late, late at night and get up early, early, early? Or how many of you don’t really sleep at night because you are up and down all night? So our bodies really need to rest to repair itself. And that is a real important thing for us to remember.
