National Hurricane Center
Contains extensive information about hurricanes, their formation,
where they are, and history of them.
NC
Dept. of Crime Control and Safety, Division of Emergency Management
This branch handles all of North Carolina's disasters, from
agricultural threats like foot-and-mouth disease to hurricanes
and tornadoes.
US
Geological Survey
Contains information about some of the most famous hurricanes
of the past 10 years.
Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
The federal disaster relief organization, has information
about recent disasters around the US, plus a section for children.
There are also materials for parents and teachers as well.
Red
Cross section on hurricanes
Contains information on what to do in the event of and aftermath
of a hurricane. This information is similar to that of the
National Hurricane Center, but the Red Cross also has tips
for other disaster-related topics as well.
