Dante James, Producer/Director/Writer, One of the series producers for “Slavery and the Making of America.”
Mel White, Director of African Programs for Old Salem, which represents the Western
part of North Carolina. Mr. White has researched the lives of African Americans who lived in and around Salem and worshiped at St. Philips church, a goldmine of information and photographs have been forthcoming from residents of modern day Happy Hill.
Dr. Freddie Parker, Chair & Professor of History, at NCCU. Dr. Parker has published two books on slavery in North Carolina - Running for Freedom: Slave Runaways in North Carolina, 1775-1835 and Stealing a Little Freedom: Advertisements for Slave Runaways in North Carolina, 1791-1840. He has also published book reviews in the North Carolina Historical Review.
