Besides
making traditional pottery, David Garner and his son Jeff
McDowell make Raku pottery, a unique style that originated
in Japan. Jeff also makes pottery sculpture. David, a former
mayor of Seagrove, apprenticed with Ben Owen Sr. and Weyman
Cole, as well as some of the original Seagrove potters. The
Garners own Turn and Burn Pottery, located in downtown Seagrove.
The Garners' pottery is another Seagrove family business,
as David and his son Jeff make the pottery, while David's
wife Deborah paints the designs.
