UNC-TV’s High School Assembly brings to light a sober topic that will hopefully be very timely as this celebration often includes special events for young men and women to get together. The rising rate of teen motherhood in Beaufort County is a critical one, considering the overall rate of teen pregnancy in North Carolina has dropped over the past year. Beaufort County Schools is exercising leadership on this issue through their Adolescent Parenting Program, which provides education and support for students facing unexpected pregnancy. Hear what teens say they’re learning about pregnancy and parenthood, and how the program has helped.
