Carolina, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate
Programs in North Carolina, in this edition of High School Assembly
from Troy, North Carolina in Montgomery County. In Part I, we learned
what GEARUP was all about, a comprehensive statewide partnership
designed to significantly increase the number of students who are
prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education in North
Carolina. In this second edition, Shannon Vickery talks to students,
teachers, parents, and coordinators of GEARUP about the serving
the needs of the Latino community, community support, business and
church involvement, kickoffs, pledges, tutoring, and enrichment
activities which are all a part of the GEARUP effort. Comments and
questions are coming from an audience of students from East Middle
School, West Middle School, East Montgomery High School, Halifax
County Schools, West Hoke Middle School, Nick Geralds Middle School
in Fayetteville, and Henderson Middle School.
