Pre-Workshop Activity
Please answer the following questions BEFORE you read the articles provided.
1. Please describe a pleasant outdoor memory from your childhood.
2. Talk to somebody from your parents' generation. Ask them how much time they spent outdoors when they were growing up. How much time did you spend outdoors growing up? How much time do your children or students spend outdoors?
3. Again, talk to somebody from your parent's generation. Find out how they got to school. How did you get to school as a child? How do most of your kids or students get to school?
4. How much time do you spend outdoors with your class during an average school week?
5. Describe the outdoor environment around your school. Is it all paved, or is there some green space?
6. Are there windows in your classroom? If so, what do they look out onto?
7. Do you notice changes in your students or certain students when they have had time outside?
