In the Garden, a 30-minute weekly educational program hosted by N.C. State University's Bryce Lane, introduces viewers to the science behind gardening. The series is offered in 3 26-week seasons as a college course through the university's continuing education program. Viewers will learn the fundamentals of horticulture -- how plants grow, plant identification, home landscaping techniques and information and ideas they can use in and around their homes.
Lane gives viewers an inside look at the nationally acclaimed J.C. Raulston Arboretum, various garden centers and his very own garden. He also shows how to identify sick or diseased plants and explains what to do to bring them back to life.
Lane also highlights a plant of the week, explaining how to grow the plant and use it successfully in the landscape. Viewers can suggest future Plants of the Week, and if those whose plant idea is used as a Plant of the Week will receive a free In the Garden t-shirt.
