I.Q. travels from the Carolina coast to the Great Smoky Mountains as it explores the environmental issues that shape the way North Carolinians live. Each program takes viewers on an "info quest" to discover the truth hidden behind some of the state's most compelling controversies and mysteries. I.Q. has examined such topics as the Tennessee Valley Authority's broken promise to Swain County residents, the usefulness of recycling and the discovery of the Queen Anne’s Revenge.

I.Q. is used in conjunction with printed materials as an educational resource in classrooms around the state. Students examine important current events and study the science and technology behind the stories.
