Hey Kids !

Did you know that the average human brain weighs about 1,400 grams (3 lbs.)? That's just one of the many things I learned on my visit to the new brain exhibit, The Cranium Connection, at the Poe Cente in Raleigh. The Poe Center provides health education programs for preschoolers, school-age children and adults in five different areas of health:

  • nutrition,
  • dental health,
  • general health,
  • family life and
  • drug education.

Their new exhibit, Cranium Connection, is an interactive, walk-in brain exhibit that will give you the opportunity to learn about and explore the wonders of the brain.

During my visit I learned that by the age of 2 years old, the brain is about 80% of the adult size-that's pretty amazing, isn't it?

I also learned that there are different lobes of the brain that are important in allowing you to perform different functions; like the temporal lobe of the brain is important for hearing.

You can sure learn a lot about your body when you visit the Poe Center
for Health Education!

Off to another great place!

Now that you know about this super-duper place, I'm sure you will want to visit.

Check out their Web site at: www.poehealth.org
or call the Poe Center at 919-231-4006,
weekdays 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM to plan your trip.
