I sure did see a lot of wonderful artwork on
my visit to the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. Did
you know that there are pieces of art in the museum that are
more than 5,000 years old? We sure are lucky to have such
a wonderful art museum right here in North Carolina that represents
art from ancient Egypt to present! Some of the collections
in the museum are American, African, Oceanic, New World, Egyptian,
Renaissance & Baroque, Greek & Roman, 20th century
and Jewish ceremonial art- but my favorite part was being
able to hop around outside in the Museum Park Theater. Outside
there are giant letters integrated into the park theater that
spell out "Picture This." What a fun place the museum
was to spend an afternoon!
On Saturday mornings, the museum also offers art classes and
special performances for children- to find out more about
the fall schedule, contact the Education Department. I hope
you get to visit the museum soon!
Off to another great place!
