Rhinos at the Zoo
The North Carolina Zoo (Asheboro)
Hey Kids !

Did you know a polar bear's paw can weigh up to 25 pounds? Wow, that's amazing!! That's just one of the many things I learned on my visit to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. The zoo is the nation's largest walk-through natural- habitat zoo and it's right here in North Carolina, wow! Did you also know that the zoo is home to more than 1,100 animals and 60,000 plants from the continents of Africa and North America?

Here are just some of the animals I saw at the zoo; polar bears, sea lions, river otters, alligators, elephants, gorillas, baboons, rhinoceroses, giraffes, zebras and of course I really enjoyed seeing the kangaroos! So whether it's in person or via the Internet, pay a visit to the North Carolina Zoological Park. Where else can you go on an expedition to the Arctic, tour a steamy tropical forest and go on an African safari - all in one day? The zoo is open year round.

Off to another great place!

If you can't make a trip to the zoo, it's possible to visit with the aid of a computer.

The zoo's main Web site, www.nczoo.org, provides general information about the park and how to plan your visit or call The North Carolina Zoo at 1-800-488-0444.
