The 13th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest named Chapel Hill’s Anne C. as a national Third Place award winner in the Third Grade category for her original story, The Magical Backpack. Scroll down to see her story.
As one of only 12 authors selected from more than 40,000 contest entrants nationwide, Anne will receive an iPod with loadable Reading Rainbow episodes, three sets of 10 Reading Rainbow DVDs and books (one for the winner, one for the winner's school and one for the winner's public library).
The Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest encourages children to use their imagination to author and illustrate their own "book." UNC-TV was one of the 107 public television stations participating in this year's Contest. Congratulations to Anne and all the participants!
