Lap Quilting with Georgia BonesteelFold your fabrics and pack your patterns because quilter extraordinaire Georgia Bonesteel is taking her popular Lap Quilting series on the open road to show viewers nationwide how to make real American quilts. For the 12th season, aptly themed Americana, Georgia travels across the country, from the Wild West to the Eastern shores, sharing the latest American innovations in the age-old art of quiltmaking. The Americana-themedseries, combining the tools and techniques of a well-spun craft series with the scenic landscapes of your favorite travel show, exposes this time-honored tradition through American eyes, exploring exciting new angles and ideas on each episode of the 13-week series.

Episode #1201 - Stitch By Number
Georgia Bonesteel kicks off the Americana series with a unique look at a sampler-teaching quilt and shares how a state-of-art embroidery module makes intricate stitching quick and easy. Also, learn from quiltmaker, teacher and fusing expert Laura Wasilowski and enjoy two Quilt By Number patterns entitled  “Let It Snow” and “Pumpkin Patch.” 

Episode #1202 - Fishermen's Coats
Enjoy Japanese country quilting at its best with an up-close look at the Awaji Island Fishermen's coats showcased at UCLA’s Fowler Museum of Cultural Art.  Also, make a youth’s kimono and soft box using the 18th century art form of sashiko stitching.

Episode #1203 - Nature of Fabric
Discover Iris Aycock's work at the Southern Highland Craft Guild in Asheville, NC.  Experiment with an unusual method for leaf pounding on fabric, foil pressing, plus a Setacolor review.  Texas quilter Linda Taylor demonstrates her innovative airbrushing technique.

Follow the step-by-step completion of a woven patchwork vest and a unique “Tumbling Blocks” design.  View Rachel Clark’s colorful garment collection and explore novelty stitches on fine silk.

Episode #1205 - Vested Interests, Part II
This week’s featured garments include the introduction of Georgia’s Americana Collection and the demonstration of two crazy patch techniques for quilted handbags. Enjoy even more bold garments from Rachel Clark’s collection.

Episode #1209 - Teach The Teachers
Log on to the latest sewing machine methods to digitize your designs and witness the latest photo printing techniques, Printed Treasures, as applied to quiltmaking. Learn from sewing educators Susan Fears, Marlene Bryant and Jennifer Gigias and visit a special school for professional quiltmakers.

Episode # 1210 - Girl Scout Quilt Alert
Follow the first steps of a new generation of crafty kids with a visit to a Brownie and Girl Scout summer camp as The Western North Carolina Quilters Guild introduces the youngsters to the art of embroidery and patchwork. Meet folk artist and quilt designer Mary Lou Weidman.

Episode # 1211 - Appliqué Folk Art
Surrounded by the soft gray-violet mists of the Blue Ridge Mountains, visit the Freedom Escape Lodge where “Escapees” display 18 years of challenging and fun craft class experiences with an attempt to render a classic piece by esteemed-folk artist and painter Edward Larson.
