A failure to invest in North Carolina’s infrastructure today could mean the loss of a vital necessity for life...our precious water supply. Even though it's very easy to overlook the pipes and sewer systems that lie underground, unseen all across the state, these essential connections impact our health, our industries, and even our economic well-being.
While there are some causes affecting water supply that are out of our control--including the infrequency of recent rainfall--we can control our own water planning and management. One of the biggest aspects of this management is providing for suitable water infrastructure.
Liquid Assets in North Carolina explores the many issues surrounding the maintainence of these water management systems. Alongside a panel of experts in rural development, public policy, construction, and public utilities administration,
UNC-TV's senior producer of public affairs
Eszter Vajda moderates this in-depth discussion of the many types of water infrastructure in place to manage North Carolina's storm, drinking, and waste water, the condition of those systems, and what concerned individuals and organizations are doing to ensure the maintenance and improvement of that infrastructure. This expert panel also examines economic and public health implications surrounding water conservation and funding.
Liquid Assets in North Carolina is produced by Deborah Holt Noel.
Noel also produces UNC-TV's weekly public affairs series Black Issues Forum and is the host and contributing producer for North Carolina Weekend.
