North Carolina State University Millennium Seminars
The seminars help students continue to reach beyond borders and think more globally about what they have learned, and what their role will be as they move into the workforce. While these seminars are student-centered, they are open the entire university community and the public. The dialog generated by these presentations is the foundation for ongoing discussion about expanding the scope and reach of the NC State’s tradition of service and action. The seminars are free and scheduled four times per year. The series complements NC State’s land-grant mission to transform lives and improve the human condition through innovation and discovery. This year’s theme is Innovation, Leadership and Higher Education. Mary Pipines Easley, the first lady of North Carolina, is the series coordinator. She joined the NC State faculty as a senior lecturer in August 2005 as part of the university’s Executive-in-Residence program. By providing opportunities to interact with world leaders from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, the North Carolina State University Millennium Seminar Series presentations are designed to engage, encourage and inspire NC State students. The university’s newest seminar series will bring speakers from diverse backgrounds and professions, including business, government, academia, the sciences, the arts and philanthropy. Presentations address world issues from the perspective of the speaker, putting local and national events in a global context and UNC-TV is there to bring them to you.
