Dr. Tom Linden travels to Banner Elk and Black Mountain to meet Will Blozan, a man determined to save North Carolina's hemlocks from being destroyed by the wooly adelgid, a tiny insect that is destroying the trees and impacting the area's ecosystem.  Students enrolled in the Medical and Science Journalism Program at UNC-Chapel Hill assisted Dr. Linden in producing the story.

It's a way of raising food that is healthy for consumers and animals, does not harm the environment, and supports and enhances rural communities.  Dr. Linden was assisted by students enrolled in the Medical and Science Journalism Program at UNC-Chapel Hill in producing the piece.
