North Carolina Symphony: About John Dancy
John Dancy
John Dancy
Veteran journalist and former NBC News Correspondent John Dancy takes you backstage to learn more about the Tar Heel State's premier orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony.

Dancy, a four-time Emmy Award winner will produce a series of feature stories on the symphony that will air throughout the year on North Carolina Now.  In each segment, he goes behind the scenes to show the preparation leading to the performances of the 69-member ensemble. He also shows how the symphony's mission goes well beyond simply performing, including free concerts across the state to educate and inspire school children to get involved in music.

Dancy's first piece will focus on the North Carolina Symphony's rendition of composer Guiseppe Verdi's “Requiem,” written in 1874. The piece, a musical setting of the Roman Catholic funeral Mass,  was performed at majestic Duke Chapel. In addition to the somberness associated with “Requiem,” Dancy also delves into the financial challenges the North Carolina Symphony is facing during these challenging economic times.
