Sprout Wings and Fly: A Portrait of Fiddler Tommy Jarrell
(DOCUMENTARY – 30 minutes, 24 seconds)
Cece Conway

As the wilderness conditions of the frontier persisted until the turn of this century in the mountains, the hard, meager life of the Blue Ridge demanded the full personal and cultural resources of the Round Peak, NC community.  This film is a portrait of fiddler Tommy Jarrell and the folk traditions he acquired as a boy and began refashioning as a young man -- exploring how his time-honored musical and narrative heritage have enriched his life and expanded his circles of community.
