North Carolina"

Picture from  I'm Not My Brother Keeper - man talkingThis documentary tells the amazing story of how black and white college students joined together to protest segregation in Winston-Salem, NC and their subsequent arrests on February 23, 1960. Theirs was the first arrest of the lunch counter sit-in demonstrations, and I’m Not My Brother’s Keeper reveals, through archival footage and first-hand interviews, how their efforts resulted in the first lunch counter victory in the South three months later.

Filmmaker

Mary M. Dalton holds a Ph.D. in cultural studies and a master’s degree in broadcasting/cinema from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. An author, producer and screenwriter, Mary earned her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University where she is currently assistant professor of communication. Currently she lives in Jamestown, NC with her nine-year-old son.
