"Portsmouth: In Search of the Past"

(Documentary – 13 minutes)

Picture from Portmouth: In Search of the Past - weather mapPortsmouth: In Search of the Past tells the story of an uninhabited island on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Portsmouth was a center of commerce in Pre-Revolutionary years, and inhabited 700 residents in the years before the Civil War. Today, the island has no permanent residents, but traces of the past remain in a village complete with a church, post office, winding dirt roads, and small homes. The film uses interviews, aerial and ground footage, and narration to portray this intriguing place as a precious relic of North Carolina’s past that must be preserved for generations to come.
