Hoopla (EXPERIMENTAL, 17 minutes, 52 seconds)
In the tradition of Buster Keaton and Jacques Tati, Hoopla is a comedy about the cold impersonal landscape of modern life. Max, a young man in a dark suit, faces the boredom and apathy of day-to-day existence. His mundane troubles are compounded by a duck migration, a useless inheritance, and a violation of an obscure city ordinance. Filmmaker Profile: AARON KATZ Aaron Katz graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts in the class of 2004. During his time at school he directed several short films, including Hoopla , his senior thesis. Since graduation he wrote and directed a feature film, shot in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, with several fellow graduates. He now lives in Brooklyn, NY. |
