Jack Lucido
My son's success and the need to encourage early assessment and intervention. 2. How long did the production process take? About nine months not including home video and stills from 6 years prior. 3. What challenges did you experience in the creation of the film? Its very personal; I hate to come off giving too much private information. The balance is achieved fairly well I think. 4. What is your favorite memory from creating the film? Finding the title during our first interview in Eureka was fantastic. I had never heard the term "Jackson Sandwich". I cried when I heard Tess tell that story. My working title was "Jackson's Story" -Not too catchy. 5. When someone has finished watching the film, what do you hope they take away from the experience? Advocate for early assessment and intervention for ANY learning or developmental disability because the years prior to it are crucial for making a life-long difference. 6. What type of reaction has your film received from viewers? Normally quite positive. I think festival programmers thought this was too specialized or interview oriented. It did not make it in to many festivals. 7. What advice would you give to aspiring young filmmakers? Shoot and edit often. Get to work and don't stop. Show your work and take advice, but make the film you want to make. 8. Please tell us about your next film or project. I am currently working on 3 new projects. 9. What are your thoughts on the film industry in North Carolina? Pretty darn good for our little state. The opportunity here to crew on a "major" film or make an indy film are quite good.
